Sleep Deprivation
Sleep deprivation affects approximately 10% of Americans. According to Michael J. Breus, PhD, Sleeping habits are more important than most of us think and could have significant affects on our health, job performance, safety and financial wellbeing. Click HERE to read the full article.
Consequences of not getting enough sleep include decreased performance and alertness, impaired memory and cognitive abilities, stress on our relationships, a higher chance of being injured at work, and an increased chance of being involved in an automobile accident.
Long term, the lack of good sleeping habits can be associated with serious illnesses including high blood pressure, heart disease including heart failure, stroke, obesity, attention deficit disorder (ADD), and an overall poor quality of life. Studies have also indicated an increase in mortality risk for a study group who received less than 7 hours sleep per night.
There exist a number of treatment options available for seep deprivation; increased awareness is the first step.

Still, studies show that Melatonin is safe for short-term use (three months or less). To read the full article, click HERE.
